Grzegorz Gorczyca - pianist and chamber musician. He studied piano at the Academy of Music in Warsaw (now the University of Music) in the class of Prof. Bronislawa Kawalla (graduated in 1995) and piano chamber music under Prof. Andrzej Guz. He honed his piano skills at master classes taught by Prof. Tatiana Szebanowa, Andrzej Jasinski and Viktor Mierzhanov. In 1993 he was a laureate of the Claude Kahn European Competition in Paris. As a soloist, Grzegorz Gorczyca has collaborated with many symphony orchestras in the country, under the direction of Jacek Boniecki, Jerzy Salwarowski, Antoni Wit, Phillip Ellis, Miroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiolowski and Renato Rivolta, among others. He has performed in Austria, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Japan and the United States. A major event in his artistic life was the performance of Witold Lutoslawski's " Piano Concerto" - during the ceremony conferring on Prof. Jan Ekier the title of doctor honoris causa of the Warsaw Academy of Music (1995 ). As a chamber musician, he has performed with outstanding Polish musicians, winning competition prizes together with them. In 2003 the artist performed at the Chopin Festival in Geneva.Grzegorz Gorczyca in 1997 started a cooperation with the outstanding cellist Rafal Kwiatkowski. Together they became First Prize winners at the 1998 International Duo Competition in Kuhmo, Finland.The duo performs at festivals in the country (including Duszniki Zdrój, Radziejowice, Antonin, Tarnów, Łańcut and during the "Brawo Maestro" in Kąśna Dolna), as well as abroad: in Germany (Leipzig Gewandhaus, Usedomer Festival), Finland (Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival) and France. In 2000 they toured Japan, performing a recital at the famous Suntory Hall in Tokyo, among other venues. They have made radio and television recordings in Poland, Germany and Finland. In addition, he has performed with vocalists Olga Pasiecznik, Marta Boberska and Tomasz Krzysica, cellists Cecilia Barczyk, Andrzej Orkisz and Tomasz Strahl, and violinists Wanda Wiłkomirska and Katarzyna Duda. In May 2004, together with the eminent artist Anne-Sophie Mutter, he took part in the performance of Witold Lutoslawski's "Partita" under the baton of Antoni Wit, during a concert commemorating the 10th anniversary of the composer's death (a repeat performance took place in January 2013 during a concert marking the 100th anniversary of the composer's birth). His concert repertoire includes works from the Baroque to the present day - he enjoys performing compositions by Weronika Ratusinska, Maciej Zieliński, Pawel Mykietyn, Aleksandr Koscov, Andrzej Dutkiewicz, Piotr Moss, Rafal Augustyn, among others. At the 47th "Warsaw Autumn" Festival of Contemporary Music in 2004, accompanied by the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra conducted by Renato Rivolta, he performed the solo part in the premiere performance of Augustyn's "Symphony of Hymns"). Together with cellist Tomasz Strahl and clarinetist Artur Pachlewski, he made a phonographic recording of Ratusinskaya's "Piano Trio" for DUX. In May 2011, he took part in the world premiere and CD recording of Jerzy Fitelberg's Concerto for Trombone, Piano and String Orchestra ( Andrzej Sienkiewicz- trombone, National Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Adam Slowinski- conductor, Concert Studio S1 in Warsaw). In August 2012, the artist performed (as part of the New Warsaw Trio project) at the "To the Victims of Buchenwald" concert inaugurating the Kunstfest Weimar Festival. The artist is regularly invited to collaborate in summer festivals and music courses (e.g. in Łańcut, Antonin, Toruń, Wrocław, Janowiec nad Wisłą, Puck, Bielsko-Biała and Kraków). Grzegorz Gorczyca took up the position of pianist in the National Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002. He is also a lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw .
